Ministry to Publish All Donors' Names on Its Website

China's Ministry of Civil Affairs will publish all the names of institutional and individual donors for the earthquake relief on its official website. Those who want to remain anonymous can inform the ministry about it.

Ministry official Pang Chenmin made the announcement at a press conference here on Friday where officials from the Red Cross of China and the China Charity Federation explained the distribution of donations for earthquake-hit areas in southwest China.

Pang said the ministry had established an "all-weather" network to collect disaster information through different channels at home and abroad and with the help of satellites.

The ministry distributed donations in accordance with information from the General Headquarters for the Earthquake Relief of the State Council, local governments at different levels and officials sent to the affected areas by the ministry, he said.

The donations will be mainly used for emergency rescue, relocation and settlement of affected people; to help them deal with difficulties concerning food, dwelling and medicine; to help them rebuild their collapsed homes and public facilities; and other relief projects approved by provincial governments.

Pang also publicized the ministry's new hotline for disaster relief: (0086) 4008112349.
