Zhu Ling reads a book in the Lijiang Orphan School library, Yunnan Province, May 28, 2008. Forty-one children from Shifang City, aged between 7 and 14, were orphaned by the Sichuan earthquake, and began rebuilding their lives here. The school is the first to be established by the Chinese Orphan Relief Fund, which, over the next few years, aims to set up nine others in poverty-stricken areas, including Tibet Autonomous Region, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Qinghai and Guizhou provinces.
