Power Partly Restored After 105 Hours in China Quake Epicenter Area

After 105 hours of cutoff, electric power was partly restored in Wenchuan, epicenter of Monday's 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Sichuan Province.

Tap water companies, hospitals, disaster relief headquarters, temporary medical treatment sites and public security authority buildings resumed power supply at 11:34 p.m. Friday in Wenchuan County.

Death toll from the earthquake in Sichuan alone had exceeded 21,500 while 14,000 others remained buried as of 4 p.m. Friday, vice provincial governor Li Chengyun said at a press conference.
