China has allocated 400 million yuan (57.14 million U.S. dollars) from the central finance to the earthquake-hit areas for medical relief, a senior official of the Ministry of Health said Thursday.
Out of the figure, 200 million yuan will be used for the medical treatment of the injured, and the other 200 million yuan will be used for purchasing emergency medicine and equipment, said Gao Qiang, chief of the ministry's Communist Party committee.
