Site selection: Relocating the horse racing ground to Hong Kong
BOCOG and IOC, through negotiation, decided at last to reallocate the beach volleyball court to Chaoyang Park in Beijing

Commitment: All the matches are to be held in Beijing, except for Sailing Regatta in the city of Qiangdao, and football preliminary contests in cities of Tianjin, Shanghai, Shenyang and Qinhuangdao. Beach volleyball matches are to be held at Tiananmen Square.

Current status quo: Comprehensive analysis of the BOCOG indicated that quarantine conditions in Beijing failed to meet the requirements of horse racing. Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) showed its willingness to co-ordinate and hold Olympic events. Considering that Hong Kong SAR has a long horse-racing tradition and has sound and adequate facilities, such as perfect race courses and first-rate services, BOCOG, as a result, suggested the 2008 Olympic equestrian events will be held in Hong Kong, which was agreed by the IOC in July 2005.

Meanwhile, due to Tiananmen Square being a busy traffic spot located in the center of Beijing, it was deemed an unsuitable location to hold events. BOCOG and IOC, through negotiation, decided at last to reallocate the beach volleyball court to Chaoyang Park in Beijing.
