Shi Zhiyong, the 23-year-old winner from the 2015 world championships, wins China's third weightlifting gold medal, lifting a total of 352kg in the men's 69kg category. "It is every athlete's dream to attend the Olympics. It's a pity that I didn't break the world record, but I'm still thrilled to win the gold medal," says a tearful Shi (XINHUA)

Chen Ruolin (right), 24, and Liu Huixia, 19, win the gold medal in the women's synchronised 10m platform diving. Chen won the gold medals in the women's 10m platform and 10m synchronized platform at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics, then duplicated the double gold performance at the London 2012 Summer Olympics. Liu is also a multi-winner in world championships and World Cups (XINHUA) 

  

 

Deng Wei, 23, wins a gold medal in the women's 63kg weightlifting, with a total of 262kg, breaking the previous world record in clean-and-jerk by 1kg, and also also the previous total by 1kg. "I'm pretty nervous," says the Olympic first timer after winning, "though I pretend to be calm on the outside." (SINA.COM)
