Share

Renminbi exchange rate stood below 7.82 yuan to the dollar on December 14, continuing stable appreciation since China reformed its exchange rate mechanism on July 21, 2005. On May 15, it reached 7.9982 yuan to the dollar, below 8 yuan for the first time.

The Chinese Government has maintained that the renminbi exchange rate will fluctuate in a reasonable range and the yuan will appreciate steadily. The country's central bank is not considering enlarging the renminbi exchange fluctuation range, which is now 0.3 percent.
