Wenchuan Earthquake Unites Hearts in China
Foreign Languages Press Newly Published Album with Chinese and English Editions

We the Chinese people, linked together by flesh and blood, stand and grieve together in national mourning. During the three national mourning days from May 19 to 21, 2008 for those who died in the Wenchuan earthquake, we held back our deep grief and did our best as a publishing company, working day and night, to publish the album Wenchuan Earthquake Unites Hearts in China. We would like to use this album to vent our sorrow and commemorate the earthquake victims and rescuers of lives. The album records moving and inspiring moments of the May 12 earthquake, and expresses the deep grief and persevering strength of the Chinese nation.

The terrible catastrophe brought the nation incalculable trauma and bereavement. That moment—14:28 on May 12, 2008—was one of deep shock to the world. The earthquake caused grievous pain, yet it united hearts in China. Through documentary words and images, the album records the indelible impacts of the disaster, including the moment the earthquake hit, the prompt reaction of the Chinese government and people, the hard and selfless work of the rescue teams, and the kind-hearted donations and assistance from both the 1.3-billion Chinese people and the international community. Every tragic moment in the quake-stricken areas was heartbreaking. However, those scenes of unity have a far more heart-wrenching power than the scenes of the earthquake, and inspired us to publish this album.

We send our heartfelt sympathy to the victims of the Wenchuan earthquake and stand together with our fellowmen to overcome adversity and move forward.

This album is an expression of our grief and sympathy for the quake victims. All proceeds from the album will be donated to the quake-afflicted areas.

Charity sales of both Chinese and English editions of this album will start at Xidan Book Mansion, north of West Chang'an Avenue, Beijing, on May 25, 2008.
