Vice President Visits Shaanxi to Oversee Relief Work

Vice president Xi Jinping is visiting Shaanxi province to comfort the disaster-stricken people and guide relief work.

Vice president Xi Jinping visited Shaanxi province Monday afternoon. He has been fully briefed about Shaanxi's post quake situation and has analyzed relief efforts in the region. After arriving in the province, the vice president visited Shaanxi University of Technology and Hanzhong City's Central hospital.

Schools aren't back to normal yet. Xi Jinping has urged local government officials and school leaders to use whatever temporary measures they can to enable students to return to class. He has also called on the local government to start reconstruction work as soon as possible. The vice president has sent his sympathy to the students, teachers and staff at the university.

While in Hanzhong Central Hospital, Xi Jinping visited those who were injured in the quake. He asked them about their injuries and their families. Xi Jinping encouraged them to be strong to overcome their difficulties. The vice president also sent his appreciation to all medics, urging them to use the best means to treat the survivors.

After the visits, Xi Jinping presided over a meeting to listen to the local government's relief work report. He praised the relief efforts by the Shaanxi provincial government and is working with them on further plans.
