Yingxiu Township in Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province is one of the areas worst-hit by the devastating earthquake. With teams of rescuers in the town now, more and more quake survivors have been rescued.

Quake survivors have been transferred by helicopter to Dujiangyan or other hospitals in Chengdu to receive further medical treatment.

This used to be one of the main roads in Yingxiu Township. But now it's covered by debris and rubble. Buildings on both sides of the street either tilt dangerously or have totally collapsed.

One Yingxiu resident said "This used to be a dormitory. There were many people inside when the earthquake took place. And there's a fruit stall and a kindergarten nearby."

One rescuer said "We need to watch our step and keep quiet. Listen carefully for sounds underneath. If there's any sound, search the area and find the survivor as quickly as possible."

This used to be the site of a local kindergarten. After a long search, the body of a child, buried underneath the rubble, is found.

But unfortunately, it's too late.

PLA soldiers and firefighters have joined hands in assessing the site. They say they are fighting against time, trying to find as many survivors as possible.
