Share

The German Red Cross will send a mobile hospital to Chengdu for quake relief on Friday, the first facility of its kind contributed by a foreign country, the Red Cross Society of China said (RCSC) here on Tuesday.

The hospital, with 120 beds, a clinic, an operating room, a delivery room and a pharmacy, can provide medical services for an area of up to 250,000 people.

Germany will also send 15 experienced technicians and medical experts to operate the facilities and train local staff, according to the RCSC.

Two experts will arrive in Chengdu on Wednesday to find a site for the hospital.

Medical teams from Japan, Russia and Italy are also expected to arrive in the disaster-affected areas after Tuesday, according to the RCSC.
