CPC Anti-graft Chief: Ensure Quality in New Schools

Share

China's top anti-graft official said here on Tuesday that newly built schools in quake-stricken areas must be of high quality and more quake-resistant.

He Guoqiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), made the remarks during his visit toquake-hit Chongqing Municipality.

During his visit to a hospital in Liangping County, He encouraged a 10-year-old girl who was recovering from the deadly quake.

A major quake, measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale, ravaged neighboring southwest Sichuan Province on May 12, flattening more than 4,500 buildings in the county.

He also visited a primary school left in ruins and saw evacuated students resuming their classes in safe places. He urged local officials and engineers to pay great attention to quality control in constructing new school buildings.

The official also went to military hospitals, where he encouraged medical staff to create more miracles by saving more lives as well as to provide efficient psychological comfort to the quake victims.
