Culture and Education Program
Share

The Youth Olympic Games are the ultimate multi-sports event for young athletes, but they are more than just competing and performing. They are about learning important skills, connecting to other cultures and celebrating the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.

The Youth Olympic Games are essentially about competing, learning and sharing. Within the Youth Olympic Games concept, the Nanjing 2014 Culture and Education Program (CEP) has been designed as a unique and impactful experience to inspire young participants.

A rich and diverse choice of activities will provide sports and life skills to athletes and other young participants, enabling them to grow in their sporting career and to promote a healthy lifestyle. They will learn from their peers as well as from sports champions serving as role models. Ultimately, the IOC and NYOGOC hope that every participant's journey through the YOG will leave a permanent mark and legacy.

With the Nanjing 2014 CEP, every participant will be empowered to become a life champion, an ambassador of sport and an advocate of the Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship.

For a true champion, victory is not just a result; it is a combination of social responsibility, healthy lifestyle and mutual respect. The CEP will be an unforgettable experience. During Games-time, young athletes will make new friends from around the world, experience the power of sport, and meet Athlete Role Models.

The CEP will offer all participants in the Youth Olympic Games an exciting and memorable experience based on five themes embodying Olympic values:

- Olympism

- Skill development

- Well-being & healthy lifestyle

- Social responsibility

- Expression

Activities will be organised in and outside the YOV for the athletes and other young participants. The program will inspire young people to become part of the Olympic Movement, embrace Olympic values and carry forward the Olympic spirit.
