APEC 2014 Third Senior Officials' Meeting And Related Meetings to Be Held in Beijing
Share

China will host the Third Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM3) and Related Meetings of APEC 2014 from August 6 to 21 in Beijing.

About 100 sessions of meeting will be held during the time, including the Senior Officials' Meeting from August 20 to 21, with meetings of APEC committees, sub-committees and working groups arranged ahead. Apart from the conventional meetings, a series of policy dialogues, seminars, workshops, exhibitions and other special events will also be held during this period. The meetings will cover a broad range of areas including Trade and Investment, Standards and Conformance, Customs Procedures, Connectivity, Agriculture and Food, Forestry, Electronic Commerce, Anti-corruption, Disaster Management and Health.

SOM3 will be the last comprehensive senior officials' meeting before APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in November this year. Compared with previous ones, SOM3 is the longest one with the largest number of participants and the most intensive schedule.

The APEC China 2014 Organizing Committee has already distributed the Administrative Circular of this meeting. Delegates can learn more about APEC meetings and register online for events through the APEC China 2014 Official Website (www.apec-china.org.cn/en).

Beijing is the capital of China, the center for politics, culture, international exchanges and technological innovation. As a world-famous historical and cultural city, Beijing boasts a history of over 3,000 years as an established city and 860 years as the capital of China.

The modern Beijing has developed into a metropolis with rich cultural heritage, sound industrial structure, cutting-edge technology, and friendly relations with cities from economies and regions across the world.

Beijing was the host of the 29th Summer Olympics in 2008. Currently, it is working hard to implement the strategy of "People's Beijing, Hi-tech Beijing and Green Beijing", and to build up itself into a world-class harmonious and livable city.
