China is stepping up efforts towards fiscal transparency and combating corruption. Six central governmental departments have disclosed their spending in 2012 on public receptions, official vehicles and overseas trips.
Among those, the China Meteorological Administration spent nearly 207.7 million yuan ($33.81 million) on these three areas. That's about 3.6 million yuan ($586,080) less than its proposed budget for 2012.
The State National Affairs Commission spent about 31.3 million yuan ($5.10 million), nearly 6 million ($976,800) less than its proposed budget. And the Ministry of Land and Resources spent about 31.7 million yuan ($5.16 million), 2.1 million ($341,880) less than its budget allocation.
The actual spending of the State Information Center amounted to its projected budget. Experts say the move shows the determination of the central government to promote fiscal transparency in a bid to enhance government credibility.
