Shanghai has had 11 confirmed cases of H7N9 infection as of April 9. A four-year old patient treated at the Children's Hospital of Fudan University has recovered.

The Children's Hospital of Fudan Unversity is one of the two health facilities in Shanghai that has been appointed by the municipal government to receive children infected by the H7N9 flu virus.

The four-year-old child infected with the virus recovered after nearly a week of medical treatment in the hospital.

"The boy is in stable condition with a normal body temperature. It has been nearly a week since he was diagnosed, and now he is in a stable recovery stage," said Dr. Yu Hui from Children's Hospital of Fudan University.

The boy is not only in a physically stable condition, he seems to have had a good time during his treatment.

"He would say hi to us every time we went into his room, and say bye to us when we left. Sometimes he would pose like a flower, and play with us. We have become good friends," said Xia Aimei, a nurse of the hospital.

Compared with other confirmed flu cases in Shanghai, the boy came to the hospital in a mild condition, with no fever.

He was diagnosed with the virus when he was sent to a clinic due to a regular cold.

"His symptoms were unapparent when he was sent to us. We did some examinations on him and all the results indicated that he is in stable condition. We treated him according to the technical guidelines issued by national health authorities," Yu said.

Yu also said that the boy has recovered, but they still need to monitor his respiratory functioning and have it examined by the hospital's expert group before he can actually be discharged.

Doctors say the boy no longer shows signs of H7N9, but they're keeping him at the hospital for observation. As with all flu viruses, there is no remedy, but the boy is an example of how patients can make a full recovery if symptoms are detected and treated early.
