Ten Years of Rapid Economic Development in China

Q1: The ten years of leadership by President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao is most credited with China's economic development amid a global recession. If you were listing the legacies of their leadership, what would be on top?

Q2. Over the three decades of reform and opening up, China has seen a massive economic progress. But it has also left a series of problems, such as environmental pollution and a widening wealth gap. We have been talking about Scientific Outlook on Development aiming for balanced and sustainable growth, but it is still not happening, why?

Q3: In 2011, the country's urbanization rate hit 51 percent -- this is the first time in history that more Chinese people live in cities than in the countryside and that is not ending. Does "urbanization" hold the key to development in the coming decade?

Q4: The social security net, which includes pensions and medical insurance, has expanded to cover most farmers. Will this be a fundamental change in people's way of living in rural areas?

Q5: How will urbanization and the social security net cope with China's changing demography and economic structure?

Q6: Over the past ten years, China had its first manned space flight, its first Olympics and World Expo, and rolled out other projects signifying China's rise. What's your view on China's image in the world over the past decade?

Q7: Is China presenting a clear rising image of itself?

Q8: Why has China's "peaceful rise" constantly been called a "threat" by some Western countries? Does it mean that China has failed to convey its message about its peaceful development?
