Li Qiang Elected Governor of Zhejiang Province

Li Qiang was elected governor of east China's Zhejiang Province on Wednesday at the first session of the 12th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress, the local legislative body.

Li, born in July 1959, is a native of Rui'an City, Zhejiang Province, and holds a master's degree in business administration.

Li began serving as deputy chief of the Zhejiang provincial committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in November 2011 before being appointed acting governor and vice governor of the booming coastal province in December 2012.

He was elected an alternate member of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in November 2012.
