Heavy fog is revisiting Beijing and its neighbouring areas, bringing traffic woes to the yearly rush ahead of Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on February 10 this year.
The bad weather has prompted authorities to issue a warning for most areas in north China.
The city of Tianjin has seen a temporary shutdown of most of its expressways. In some parts of central China's Henan Province, the fog has reduced visibility to 200 meters. At least 109 flights have been canceled.
In Shandong Province in east China, poor visibility has forced government to close half the expressways. Three major airports have also been shut, grounding thousands of passengers.
