Party Leaders Join in Panel Discussions

China's top leaders have joined various delegations on the first day of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

In panel discussions with Party delegates on Monday afternoon, they pointed out that CPC General Secretary Hu Jintao's report is crucial for the Party's development.

China's top legislator Wu Bangguo joined a discussion with delegates of Anhui province. Wu called on Party members to advance the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics in an all-around way at the new starting point of history.

He said Hu Jintao's report is the guideline for China to build a moderately prosperous society in all respects. He also underlined the significance of the Scientific Outlook on Development.

During a discussion with delegates from Beijing, top political advisor Jia Qinglin noted that Hu's keynote speech set directions for the development of the Party and the country, as well as the efforts of building a well-off society.

He said since China's reforms and opening up, consultative democracy has been widely expanded to the country's political and social life, and is developing. He also added that we must stick to the multi-party cooperation and political consultation system under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
