Two Japanese Illegally Land on Diaoyu Islands
Share

Two Japanese have landed on the Diaoyu Islands, amid escalating tensions between China and Japan.

Local media reports the two right-wing activists arrived at waters near the Diaoyu Islands by boat, then swam ashore. This was also confirmed by Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura. He told at a news conference that they have already left following the Japan Coast Guard's orders.

Local police said the two persons are entrepreneurs from Japan's Kagoshima Prefecture. They departed from a port in Ishigaki, Okinawa Prefecture early Tuesday morning.
