Li Baodong, China's Permanent Representative to the UN, has submitted China's official baselines of the territorial waters of the Diaoyu Islands and their affiliated islets.
Li presented the document during his meeting with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the UN headquarters on Thursday afternoon. He's also stressed China's stance on the issue.
Li said, "I stressed to the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, that the Diaoyu Islands have been an inalienable part of China's territory since ancient times. The Chinese people and government are determined and fully capable of defending our country's sovereignty and territorial integrity." (CNTV.cn September 14, 2012) |
