The 11th Panchen Lama, a Tibetan Buddhism spiritual leader, has visited Jokhang Temple and led a prayer service in the most revered monastery in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. He visited the major halls of the temple, paid homage and presented his own hada, a long scarf-like white silk used by Tibetans for blessings, to statues of Buddhas.
He then led a 30-minute sutra-chanting service with more than 100 lamas at the temple. The Panchen Lama began this year's Lhasa visit on Monday, where he also visited care centers for the elderly and orphans. He was chosen at the age of six as the reincarnation of the 10th Panchen Erdeni in Jokhang.
