Li Na Joins London Torch Relay

 

Although she missed out on being named the flagbearer for Team China, Li Na. China's top tennis player was able to take part in the Olympics torch relay on Wednesday. Li, taking a day off from her preparations to create her own very special games' memory.

Li said, "This is the first time I have participated in the Olympic torch relay. I will cherish the experience. The Olympic Games are unique."

On Wednesday, thousands of London residents cheered on the torch relay in the northern part of the city. The 147th torch bearer on Wednesday, Li looked relaxed and happy in her 320-meter route. London could be Li's last Olympics...and she said she'll try her best to bring gold home to China. Olympic tennis will be held from July 28 to August 5 with Li scheduled to play in the singles event and doubles with Zhang Shuai. Four years ago in Beijing, Li finished fourth place in women's singles, the best result achieved by a Chinese tennis player at an Olympics.
