Wu Peng Edges Phelps, Wins 200m Butterfly

Time is running out for Michael Phelps to recapture his Olympic form before the London Games. The American failed to get to the top of the podium again, after finishing second in the 200-meter freestyle in Charlotte, North Carolina on May 11.

Phelps has won 14 Olympic gold medals in his career, including eight in Beijing four years ago, but his lack of quality results date back to last year's World Championships in Shanghai.

Chinese swimmer Wu Peng would be Phelps biggest challenge in Saturday's 200-meter butterfly. Wu managed to beat the 2008 Olympics Golden boy at a meet in the U.S. last year.

And the pair would swim neck-and-neck in the final fifty meters. Wu just beat Phelps to the wall to win with a time of 1 minute 56.69 seconds. Phelps is scheduled to swim just one more meet in Texas before heading to the U.S. Olympic trials in late June. Only the top two swimmers from that meet can represent the United States in individual events in London.
