Four major rock acts from the United Kingdom (UK), including Duran Duran and Snow Patrol, will be headlining the opening concert of this year's London Olympic Games. In the meantime, the musicians in the classical scene are also preparing their greeting gift for the Olympics.
Chinese singer Song Zuying is teaming up with two of her best friends, pianist Lang Lang and Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli to hold a concert at London's Royal Albert Hall on June 5. A collective of nations will come together to celebrate the cultural fusion at this stunning concert entitled East Meets West: Three Stars in Collaboration.
Renowned Chinese ethnic singer Song Zuying will be joined by legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli and Chinese pianist Lang Lang on the stage for a beautiful series of classical performances accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The event will see a set of solo performances, as well as a number of unique collaborative performances with all three artists.
Song said, "There's no better chance than this to promote our Chinese culture to the people around the globe, especially the various ethnic music genres from China."
Song will be performing the 2008 Beijing Olympic theme song You and I, a duet originally sung by Liu Huan and British soprano Sarah Brightman. As the consecutive host of the Olympic Games, the cross-cultural events have already become an annual highlight throughout 2012 between China and the UK.
