In Mekong River, a tourist route has resumed after a three month suspension. Triangle Number 2 begins the first leg of a journey from Jinghong Port in southwest China's Yunnan Province to Chiang Saen Port in Thailand.
A mostly-Australian party along with a guide from Yunnan are among the first groups. The route was suspended due to security fears after a Chinese ship was attacked, and 13 Chinese sailors killed in October of 2011, but today's captain is confident. Shipping resumed after the four countries that share the river, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and China, agreed to step up security. This was followed by a successful convoy of 10 cargo ships in December.
