Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has arrived in Bali to attend a series of meetings for East Asian leaders.
During his stay in Indonesia, Premier Wen will attend the 14th summit between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). It will commemorate the 20th anniversary of China-ASEAN dialogue relations. A meeting for the leaders of China, Japan and South Korea is also scheduled.
During his visit, Wen is expected to reiterate China's policies on deepening cooperation with ASEAN in political, economic and cultural fields. The leaders will also review the development of diplomatic ties and map out strategic planning for the future.
At the East Asia Summit, Wen is planning to focus on the future development of the summit, education, finance, and energy. After attending these meetings, the Chinese premier will pay an official visit to Brunei.
As the ASEAN's biggest trade partner, China has close trade ties with ASEAN members. At present, China has dropped its tariff rate for ASEAN countries from an average of 9.8 percent to 0.1 percent.
