Liu Xiang Training in Guangzhou

One of the biggest stars of the Asian Games has arrived in Guangzhou. 110m hurdler Liu Xiang is preparing for action at the same training place where he tuned-up for the Games four years ago. Liu ran a world record time of 12.88 seconds in 2006, but injury stopped him at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He's back for another shot at glory in the 2010 Asian Games.

Liu Xiang took up high intensity training in Shanghai. Now, the hurdler is adjusting to his surroundings in Guangzhou. But adjusting does not mean relaxing. Liu's coach Sun Haiping is pushing the athletics star to be at his best for the competition.

Liu Xiang's coach Sun Haiping said, "We are adjusting his method of training. Liu Xiang once improved his training through a lot of competitions. But this is different. He did very high intensity training in Shanghai, and we are changing his strength training in Guangzhou to help him recover."

Liu Xiang focused on strength training and speed training on Wednesday afternoon. Liu easily did the 150 meter speed run with the other runners. The coach says Liu looks faster than before.

Liu Xiang's coach Sun Haiping said, "The most important thing is to keep his running safe. I think he may run his best result of this year, maybe around 13.30 seconds."

Liu Xiang will race on November 22.
