Opening Ceremony of Asian Games Rehearsed

Rehearsals begin Saturday night for the opening ceremony of the Asian Games. And the gala's director and some of the performers have been speaking to us - giving us a taster of what's in store.

As the Asian Games approach, the eye-catching opening ceremony is taking shape. Chen Weiya, executive director of the ceremony, said the theme of the show was water.

"The whole ceremony starts with a drop of water. Then, over the next hour and 40 minutes, themes will include setting sail, ocean travel, and an invitation to Guangzhou," Chen said.

Ground performances also form a major part of the show. Every six ground performers are responsible for one aerial performer, using wires to control their movement.

"We need to hold the wires tight, even when we fall. The safety of our brothers is in our hands," said performer He Zhiqiang.

After 15 months of hard work and painstaking practice, both director and performers will finally get to show their skills to the public - at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games on November 12.
