First Music Classroom Opens in Hope Project School

Students with China's Hope Project elementary schools will be thrilled by a gift: a well-equipped music classroom in each school.

Launched by China Children and Youth Fund, the initiation is expected to benefit more than 40,000 children from low-income families with a standard level education in music.

The first music classroom has opened in a Hope Project elementary school located in Shifang City, southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Mainland-based pop duo band Yu Quan attended the opening day event to give an exceptionally interesting music class to the children there.

Similar music classrooms will soon be set up in all of the 125 Hope Project elementary schools across the country.

Each classroom is funded with 35,000 yuan (about $5,200) that will guarantee basic instruments including electric piano, percussion instruments, harmonicas and others.
