China to Adopt New Generation Internet from 2015

Experts attending the 2010 Internet Conference said China's developed eastern regions will begin to adopt next generation Internet from 2015 onwards.

The next generation Internet, or IPV6, has wider transmission capacity with a speed 100 times faster than the current Internet. It can simultaneously support several hundred high-definition video telephone connections.

China launched the project to develop next generation Internet in 2003. So far, more than 20 cities in eastern and central China have invested in related facilities.
