The supply of clean water has been an urgent issue for the mudslide-hit Zhouqu county. So far, more than 40 temporary water supply points have been set up across the county.

This is one water supply point near Zhouqu People's Hospital. People nearby come to get water very early in the morning. The water is not only for daily usage, but drinking water as well.

Zhouqu Resident, said, "A water tank was driven here the day before yesterday, offering water for us. The water comes from the Bailong River, and is then purified for us to drink."

The resident adds that it is much more convenient for them to get water since the water supply points have been set up.

Meanwhile, experts in epidemic prevention have reinforced efforts to supervise the water quality and surrounding environment.

Wang Xinhua, Director of Gansu Disease Control Center, said, "Water supply points are a crucial place for epidemic prevention. We sterilized the water for people to drink. Also, we spray sterilizer onto the surrounding environment to make sure the water is safe."

The water supply points across the county are to meet the demands of local residents. Local authorities say Zhouqu county's water supply has been guaranteed since the mudslide. And each person may get up to 60 liters of water everyday for routine use.
