Couples Help Each Other in Paralympic Games

Everybody smiles. In front of the Table Tennis venue at Peking University, 27-year-old wife Michala la Bourdonnaye, and 35-year-old husband Gilles de la Bourdonnaye are taking a picture with their family. Both of them are table tennis players at the 2008 Paralympic Games. With a big supporting cast behind them, they entered the venue hand in hand.

Facing Poland's star player Natalia Partyka in the women's semifinal, Michala barely had a chance to score.

After Bourdonnaye left for the court, his wife began to tell us their love story.

Gilles, a 35-year old veteran, has already won three gold and three silver medals in four previous Paralympics. He said after the match that he is tired of competing. Gilles wants to retire and live a happy life with his adorable wife.

Dong Fuli is another happy wife with a very supportive husband. Every time she wins a point, the 39-year-old wheelchair tennis player waves to the stand where her coach and husband are cheering for her.

Chen Yong has helped his wife a lot, both inside and outside the competition. He became the coach for Hebei wheelchair tennis team.

Meanwhile, under the shadow of love, Dong Fuli is marching on at the Beijing Paralympic Games. She's reached the quarterfinal round, and will take on reigning Dutch champion Esther Vergeer on Thursday.
