Chinese Vice President to Attend Lee Kuan Yew's State Funeral
Share

Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao will attend the state funeral of former Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, and he will be in the city-state from March 28 to 30, the Foreign Ministry said Friday.

Li will visit as a special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said in a press release.

Lee, Singapore's founding father, served as prime minister from 1959 to 1990 and then as a senior minister and minister mentor. He died Monday at the age of 91.

Lee's state funeral is slated for Sunday.
