28.6 billion yuan
A total of 28.6 billion yuan ($4.3 billion) was spent on the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Of this amount, 18 billion yuan ($2.7 billion) went into construction projects, such as pavilions; 10.6 billion yuan ($1.6 billion) was used for the daily operation and management of the Expo. According to an estimate by Professor Chen Xinkang of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, the earnings of the Shanghai Expo will be about 3.5 times more than those of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Over 100 different activities every day
The 2000 Hanover World Expo lasted 153 days, with the total number of activities exceeding 15,000. The 2005 Aichi World Expo lasted 185 days, with the total number of activities reaching about 11,000. The Shanghai World Expo lasted 184 days, with the total number of activities exceeding 20,000. The Shanghai World Expo hosted over 100 different activities every day.
