The Fifth Beijing Fringe Festival took place in 12 theaters in Beijing from September 3 to 30, staging over 60 dramas from 15 countries and regions such as Britain, Germany, France and China. The festival was inspired by the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which has been held annually in Scotland since the 1950s, as a way to promote experimental and avant-garde performances in China.
