A passenger plane operated by Henan Airlines broke into two pieces before it smashed into the ground and exploded at 9:36 p.m. on August 24 near Lindu Airport in Yichun, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. At least 42 of the 96 people on board were confirmed dead while the remaining 54 have been rescued and hospitalized.
The crashed ERJ-190 jet was manufactured by the Brazilian aerospace conglomerate Embraer, with maximum passenger capacity of 108.
