Dongfeng will test and validate Detroit Electric’s patented electric-drive technology to produce and market pure electric vehicles, the U.S. company said in a statement. The two companies reportedly may even establish a joint venture to facilitate their partnership.
Gaming Growth
Lenovo Group, the largest personal computer maker in China, has vowed to tap further into the domestic gaming computer sector as a source of growth. The company has seen its sales fall in recent months amid the economic downturn.
Lenovo has plans to introduce a series of new gaming computers to bump up its sales volume, said Liu Jie, the company’s Vice President, in an interview with China Daily.
The number of Chinese gamers is expected to reach 100 million by the end of this year, Liu said.
“We hope to establish a good brand image among these consumer groups,” he added.
Oil Deal
Sinopec Group, China’s largest oil refiner, announced on June 24 that it plans to pay more than $7.2 billion to buy all the outstanding common shares of Geneva-based oil producer Addax Petroleum Corp. Addax is listed in both Toronto and London, and owns resource assets in Africa and the Middle East.
The offer price represents a 47-percent premium over the closing price of Addax in Toronto on June 5.
“Addax Petroleum’s exploration potential, particularly in offshore deepwater exploration projects, will provide a strong platform for Sinopec’s ongoing growth and development,” the Chinese company said in a statement. |
