The country also will seek to rein in the decline in pork prices and increase frozen pork reserves, Xinhua reported, citing Du Ying, Vice Minister of the National Development and Reform Commission.

Apple Wins Lawsuit

Apple Inc., the U.S. electronic giant, has won a trademark infringement lawsuit against New Apple Concept Digital Technology Co. Ltd., an electronics company based in Shenzhen in south China's Guangdong Province. The Chinese company was ordered to pay 400,000 yuan ($58,565) for infringing on Apple's trademark and logo. Apple Inc. filed the lawsuit this April.

The Chinese company, established in 2005, had used an apple with two wings as its logo, which looked similar to that of the U.S. company. It had used the logo on its products, product packaging and website.

The court ordered the Shenzhen company "to stop infringement practices" and pay damages to Apple Inc.

Banking Overseas

The Bank of China Ltd., one of the country's Big Four state-owned commercial banks, has opened a subsidiary in Geneva of Switzerland, the first among Chinese banks to have a presence in the country.

The subsidiary began operations on December 1 and offers private banking services to overseas Chinese and international clients. It shows the bank's confidence in Switzerland as a key international financial center and its rich expertise in the financial fields, Bank of China said in a statement.

The bank now has a total of 29 foreign branches and subsidiaries.
