The fifth session of the China-U.S. Strategic Economic Dialogue was held in Beijing on December 4-5.
Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan and U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, as special representatives of President Hu Jintao and President George W. Bush, co-chaired the dialogue, which saw the attendance of major economic officials from both countries. They pledged joint efforts to cope with the worsening financial crisis worldwide.
China and the United States also reached consensus in five major areas to step up energy and environmental protection cooperation. A framework document for green partnership project was signed, in addition to other documents.
Launched in 2006, the dialogue is held biannually in China and the United States in turn. |
