Iver Frigaard, acting police commissioner of the UN Mission in Kosovo, awards a UN peacekeeping medal to Wu Shengguo, captain of the fifth Chinese police contingent in Kosovo, in Pristina on November 16.

The other 17 members of Wu's squad were also awarded at the same ceremony in recognition of their contributions to maintaining peace and stability in Kosovo.

Chinese civilian police personnel first joined UN peacekeeping operations in Kosovo in 2004. The fifth contingent will end its one-year term next March.
