A Pakistani doctor comforts an ailing baby in a makeshift hospital in Longnan City, Gansu Province, on May 31.

Longnan, 240 km from Wenchuan County at the epicenter of the 8.0-magnitude earthquake in Sichuan Province on May 12, was severely hit in the disaster, with more than 1,000 people killed and wounded.

Medical teams from Pakistan and Indonesia began a one-month mission in Longnan on May 30 for both earthquake survivors and locals with other diseases.

After the May 12 earthquake, more than 300 medical workers from countries including Russia, Germany, Italy, Cuba, Britain, Japan, France, Pakistan and Indonesia came to China to provide help.
