Yang Jinfeng, 74, is just one of the very few lucky survivors pulled out alive from the landslide debris in Zhouqu county. A family so very grateful for the amazing work done by rescue crews.
The applause was also for the strength and resilience of 74-year old Yang Jinfeng. She survived 34 hours buried in the landslide's debris and rubble, waiting and hoping she'd be found alive.Survivor Yang Jinfeng said, "I jumped out of the bed and put on my clothes, the mudslide ran after me like a big black dog.
It chased me to the corner of the house, I stayed there. It was as big as a refrigerator."The mudslide almost engulfed Yang Jinfeng's house. She squeezed into a corner with mud and rocks up to her waist.She tried to dig herself out with her owns hands.
Yang said, "I moved the big rocks away with all my strength, and then tried to take away the mud. My hands are all broken."Yang has 5 daughters and a son. She has been living alone since her husband died 16 years ago.
Yang said, "We looked for her for a whole day but with no luck. Her house was full of mud and rocks."As rescue work continued, part of Yang's house became exposed.
Yang's grandson said, "I called out for her, sticking my head in through the window, I heard her vaguely. I couldn't believe it and called out aloud again. She answered back."
Yang was taken out from a hole dug into the side of her house.Yang said, "I'm saved. It's good enough to live even a couple of more years and take a few more looks at my kids."Yang's children and grand children said Yang's rescue was a great blessing to them all.
