Share

A Hong Kong police thriller Cold War has emerged as the biggest winner at the 32nd Hong Kong Film Awards. The film took home nine awards, including the best film, best director, and best screenplay. Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Ka-fai won his fourth best actor award for his part in the film.

Hong Kong actress Miriam Yeung took home the Best Actress award for her part in a Hong Kong romantic comedy Love in the Buff. The best film from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan was bagged by the film Back to 1942 by director Feng Xiaogang.

The award ceremony also dedicated a special session to commemorate Hong Kong actor Leslie Cheung and Hong Kong actress Anita Mui since this year marks the tenth anniversary of their deaths. In the award ceremony, actor Zhang Guoli from the mainland talked about the challenges facing the Chinese film industry.

"The Chinese film industry is at a turning point. We need to figure out what aspirations we need to hold onto to move ahead. I hope film makers from Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Chinese mainland can work together to upgrade the industry and make better Chinese films," Zhang said.
