Chinese director Zhang Yimou has been honored with a lifetime achievement award at the Sixth Kustendorf International Film and Music Festival in Serbia.
When receiving his award, Zhang said that he believed all film festivals in the world should be like this, a gathering of artists and loving young people.
Festival founder, film director Emir Kusturica said that Zhang is someone who has transferred filmmaking from the 20th to the 21st century.
Zhang screened his latest film The Flowers of War at the opening of the week-long film festival.
The festival is known for both harvesting young talents and celebrating established international filmmakers.
