The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television is expecting annual box-office revenues to reach six billion yuan
Share

Since the start of this year, China's movie industry has been doing a booming business. And the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television is expecting annual box-office revenues to reach six billion yuan (about $890 million).

The latest data puts China's box-office revenues at an impressive 5.2 billion yuan from January to the middle of October. Since the remaining months are the beginning of the New Year season, the total figure for 2009 is bound to pass the six billion yuan mark.

This will make the fifth consecutive year of 30 percent growth of China's movie market. In 2008, the domestic movie box-office revenues totaled 4.3 billion yuan, for the first time bringing the country into the world's top-ten movie markets.
