Zheng Jun at the launch ceremony of the 3D film project of Tibetan Rock Dog in Beijing, October 12 (SINA.COM) |
Following the success of his debut cartoon fiction Tibetan Rock Dog, rock musician Zheng Jun is ready to launch the 3D animation project of the cartoon dog.
In collaboration with domestic investors and top Hollywood production team, the film will present a different rock dog's adventure than the original story of the cartoon by adding a host of fresh elements to both the characters and storyline, Zheng Jun revealed at the launch ceremony for the film project on Monday.
The cartoon book Tibetan Rock Dog, hitting book stores earlier this year, is centered on a Tibetan mastiff Metal who explores a magical and adventurous life in Beijing after he was adopted by a Beijing-based rock musician during his pilgrimage to Tibet.
Zheng said the idea of the animated film of his original cartoon was inspired by such Hollywood animations as Kungfu Panda, Ice Age and Toy Story, and he was convinced the character of Metal the rock dog would be accepted everywhere.
Slated for release in 2011, the film will first roll out in theaters across north America. A full list of Chinese entertainers will join the voice cast for its Chinese version.
