More than 300 movies will be shown during the London Film Festival next month, festival Artistic Director Sandra Hebron said Wednesday.

The 53rd London Film Festival, which is to be held on October 14-29, will include a diverse selection of world and international premieres with a total of 191 features and 113 short screenings.

"I'm delighted that we have such a strong and varied program this year, presenting new work from some of the world's most renowned directors alongside films from exciting new talents, and showcasing creativity and imagination from around the world," Hebron said.

Festival audiences will have a choice of films from 46 countries around the globe. Three films from China will be shown, including City of Life and Death, Feast of Villains and The Search.

The festival is Britain's biggest movie event, and also one of the world's oldest film festivals.

This year's event will open with the world premiere of Wes Anderson's animated feature Fantastic Mr. Fox, and close with Nowhere Boy.
