Director Ang Lee (SINA.COM)

Directors Ang Lee and Tsai Ming-Liang headlined the "Taiwan Night" party on Tuesday at the Cannes Film Festival.

The annual festival presents "Taiwan Night" every year to pay tribute to notable filmmakers of Taiwan cinema.

This year's "Taiwan Night" also attracted Hong Kong and Chinese mainland film workers and quickly turned into a big party for Chinese-speaking attendees at Cannes.

Taiwan-born Ang Lee is competing for Golden Palm, the festival's top prize, with his comedy drama Taking Woodstock, while Taiwan director Tsai Ming-Liang is rivaling Lee with his film Visages.
